About My Topic

My topic is about: Sports Injuries

This issue interests me because: There is not a lot of games that talks about sport injuries.

I want people to learn: that when your playing sports, be careful and safe.

This issue needs to be addressed because:There could be less injuries in United States and less fatal.

Now Imagine Your Game!

WHO are you designing your game for? (Include the player's age, abilities, and prior knowledge of your topic.) I am making this game for 5-18 years, real good reflexes, and great common sense.

WHAT will your game teach the player about your topic? (Be specific!)My game will teach people to be better informed with sports information.

WHERE does your game happen? On a football field.

Describe the world you will design for your game. It will have a lot of sport teams and have sports equipment everywhere. Also there will be hospital equipment too.

How will this setting add to the learning experience? Teach people that sports do have injuries and that they are very serious.

HOW does your game world teach the player about your topic? Show them how to be safe while playing sports and have fun by doing it.

What happens in the world that helps the player learn? It will have real-life stories about kids who got sports injuries.

How does the player use what they learned to make something happen in the game? They would play it again and they could get better each time.

WHY is a game a better way of understanding your topic than a quiz? Because they can see a visual and interact better.

March Of The Penguins

Emperor Penguins of Antarctica

What challenges do the penguins have to overcome?
Having to wait for a long period of time and haven't ate.

How does their habitat challenge their livelihood each day?
The cold air makes the penguins huddle up so all they to do is be together and they have to stay and watch the egg without food.
What types of adaptations do penguins need in order to survive brutal winters as well as predators?
Their feet are thick and have claws to grip the ice.
Why is there a period of time in which there is practically no sunlight? What affect can no sunlight have on this region of Antarctica?
They're at the bottom of the Earth so the sun takes a long time to come back.
How could climate change negatively impact the mating ritual of the Emperor Penguin?
They would have to find more land and the penguins will die.

How did gamers use the computer game Foldit to solve the protein folding mystery?
They gamers had created a game that is about a virus called "Aids" and they show them about the new cure that the found about the virus.
Who can particpate in this problem solving and be a player in Foldit?
The person who can play this type of game can be a person who has Aids and is going through the virus, so that way the can learn about it, or how to prevent it.
What can critical thinking do for science?
Critical thinking can do a lot of things for science, like what the game is about, to really think about how to stop the virus of Aids and how to stop it from preventing and keep going with a new protein that they found and could work to stop it.
If you could solve a mystery through gaming for any kind of disease or illness in the world, what would it be?
The illness that I would want to solve for would be cancer, because most people can have it, and its a very bad thing to have that can lead to death, and It would be a great idea to find a protien to cure cancer and prevent it from happening.

MiniGame

The latest week, we have been doing the Mini game in Flash. In overall, it has been fun and easier to do because I have learned all of it and I can use my knowledge to figure out how to do everything. As I started the steps, I had to look at the instructions, but as I read it clearly, I started getting it. I also got help from the Action Wizard, that helps you write out the action script and show how to plug-in the objects. I did get stuck a little bit, as I was starting steps 3. I just sat there until I got Up and got a good resource, my teacher. She helped me and solve my my problem. I got passed the rest of the steps and completed the Mini game.

9/11/11

9/11/11
The 10th anniversary of September 11th will be this Sunday. I really can not believe it has been 10 years since this awful event occurred. You were all very young when this happened, but it is important that you still understand the impact that the terrorist attacks had on our country and world at large. It is also just as important that we honor those that have given their lives to defend our way of life.

How old were you on September 11, 2001? Three years old at the time.

When did you first learn about the attacks and who explained the events to you?
Like In 2006.
What kind of impact did these attacks have on your life or your parents lives? It really changed how I thought about people in the middle east.

There is a game that was created about the attacks on September 11. It was called New York Defender and was released on October 11, 2001. This game outraged people because it was insensitive to the memory of those that died and the men and women giving their lives to help others. Read the article at http://www.rawstory.com/news/2007/911_video_game_outrages_survivors_0102.html and answer the questions below in your own blog post.

What was the issue with this game? Warfare

How do you feel about it? I think it is a little bit cool, but it could be really disrespectful because it might make someone guilty.

What is the problem with portraying on such an awful violent event through a video game? It could make someone who could of done something guilty.

How can you make sure that your web games tell the whole story or teach a lesson in an honorable way? I really couldn't say I Could, but I would just tell the straight truth and that it.

3# Single Story 2011

"Danger of a Single Story"
1.What does it means to have a single story about a place or a community? When someone thinks about 1 idea of something and have an opinion(Prejudice).
2.Describe a single story you have heard told about your community. What is messing from that story? How could people learn more about a community? I have heard that most of all East Austin, Texas school are uneducated and have low TAKS scores. What I've learned here at this school is that Our school has made very good scores and that shows that the east part of Austin has a school that can really go far. They are messing the positive part of East Austin schools and they are only talking about the negative parts of East Austin. They ask someone who has excelled in the East Austin area to explain how East Austin is just not crazy, it is really a good place to live.

I think the disaster in Japan was a bad tradegy. It was a horrible thing how it killed innocent people and how other people had to see the water raise and destroy the country. It was a chance of them when the earthquake hit, but when the tsunami hit, they weren't really prepared.

Retrieved from Los Angeles Times

It was really great how the students had made all that money in 1 day. I would like to do that at the school to show support and care to the people in Japan and people who knew people from Japan.

The Math game Ii played taught me about simple math and how the super hero had to destroy the spaceships. I liked how the math was simple to what we had been doing in our Math class so the information that I knew helped me to complete the game. The only thing I didn't like was when You would have to answer the question, it would be to hard to move it to the right answer in time. In total, I liked the game and the graphics.

Google Science Fair

I think the Google Science Fair is going to be really interesting because you''ll never know what people would do and see the creativity side in them.I could see myself entering the science fair and doing something, but if I really want to win I would have work hard, show some effort, and try to make it as unique as possible. Also, I think that if I work to the best of my abilities I think I would have a chance at winning and get a awesome prize. I think it would be exciting to see people from around the world and seeing how they were and if I ever had assumed anything I would take it back to see how smart people are really are. I think it would be fun to do a chain reaction and see how it moves.
I got this picture from freedigitalphotos.net.
